Speech to Text for Google Sheets

Connect a sheet once. After that, talking is how you log things — SendMyVoice reads your header row and appends a matching row per note.

What you can do

SendMyVoice reads your sheet's existing header row — wherever it sits — and works out the type of each column: text, number, date, and so on. There's no template to copy first; if your sheet already has columns like “Date,” “Amount,” and “Notes,” that's enough. This works the same whether your spreadsheet started life in Google Sheets or as an imported Excel-style file.

Say “ran 5k in 28 minutes, felt good” into a workflow pointed at a training log, and a new row lands with the date, distance, time, and note already filled in — no opening the sheet, no typing.

One recording can also produce several rows — list three expenses in a single note and three rows get appended, each with its own amount and description.

How to set it up

  1. 1

Sign up for SendMyVoice — free, no card required.

  2. 2

Create a workflow and choose Google Sheets as the destination.

  3. 3

Connect your Google account and pick the sheet to append to. SendMyVoice reads its header row and column types automatically.

  4. 4

Record a voice note into that workflow. A new row appears in the sheet once transcription finishes.

Questions

Do I need to use a specific spreadsheet template?

No. SendMyVoice reads whatever header row your sheet already has, wherever it is, and figures out the type of each column — text, number, date, and so on. There's no template to copy or format to follow.

Does this work with Excel-style spreadsheets?

It works with Google Sheets specifically, including Excel-style spreadsheets you've imported or built the same way — with a normal header row and columns underneath. SendMyVoice appends new rows through Google's Sheets API.

Can one recording add more than one row?

Yes. If your note lists several items — a handful of expenses or tasks — SendMyVoice can append a separate row for each one in the same recording.

What happens if a column doesn't match anything I said?

It's left blank rather than guessed at. The recording and its transcript are always saved, so you can fill the gap in by hand if you need to.

Is Google Sheets available on the free plan?

Yes. Google Sheets is available on the free plan, which includes 20 recordings a month and up to 3 connected integrations. Pro removes those limits.
